morning mocha

i walked over to merriweather for coffee and a chocolate croissant this morning.

i'm now listening to brian lehrer on wnyc . . about the need for police reform . . he just put on an address from biden on the need for change now, challenging congress to put reform laws on the president's desk now. the guests on his show this morning are both black americans trying to teach us about the black experience. they are acknowledging that even though biden isn't the best choice, he's willing to listen and work with black leaders on the changes that need to be made. they're also talking about how many people in this country have known what to do, they just haven't wanted to take action (i.e. the plans of how to deal with a pandemic were left by obama for the next administration, but the new administration threw them out). they've both spoken so eloquently to brian's questions and to callers' comments. if you want to listen in, you can click on the wnyc link above. i believe it stays up and you can listen anytime.

they've also talked about how families need to talk with those family members who voted for this administration . . have a serious discussion with them about how they could vote for someone who foments so much anger and hatred. i've thought about that too . . how additional discussion needs to start at home.
