eclipse

i'm not sure where to start when writing about the eclipse . . marisa came over to visit beforehand and then we met deychen by the river, where many had congregated for the event. it was just a fun time with everyone in awe of how our earth, moon and sun can align. the last photo in this post is my nephew's photo of the total eclipse from vermont, a really special and beautiful view . . and experience. korrina watched from sunnyside and kathy from the beach at ditch. chanda watched with two friends from a roof in bed stuy (and didn't take any pics - quite a unique feat i think!). our experience in nyc was that it grew colder, our shadows grew longer and the sky darkened. i was impressed with how powerful the sun is that with just a ten percent sliver of light showing, everything stayed quite bright. jason experienced a 360 degree sunset with some stars shining through, and charlotte and her family in upstate new york experienced a dark night in the late afternoon (they had a lot of cloud cover). oh! and greg watched with several colleagues outside his office building down by south ferry . . he could also see it from his office window.
