morgana decided to call her dance . . outside blue! we tried a bunch of other titles, but decided the quote from e. m. forster really fit her dance best. she chose a piece of music from george crumb and what came out of months of studio time was a dance about being on the edge of the upper parts of the atmosphere, specifically in the ionosphere which intersects the mesophere, thermosphere and exophere, and affects the behavior of radio waves due to the presence of an ionized plasma (see the wikipedia article here).
this is a short excerpt of the beginning of the dance . .
and this is near the end . . which i missed because i neglected to unload my camera's memory card and it was full (yes, i know . . very annoying and silly and naughty of me).
some other titles we were thinking of using: ionospheric conditions; ionosphere; precipice; above but below.
after morgana's tech rehearsal, korrina and krista got ready for the garden party tech.
garden party and carnival of the animals are two of the dances ellen does that require a bit of a set-up. ellen was a little upset today because she neglected to get two special chairs needed for the dance out of storage from her niece's house in new jersey. they arrived in time for the show.
